Alistair Featherstone joined Rice Financial in 2009 bringing nine years of experience in public finance to the Rice team. As an Associate with Banc of America Securities, Mr. Featherstone provided day-to-day client support, including quantitative structuring, analytical recommendations, commentary on legal documents and financial due diligence and executed $2.8 billion of tax-exempt bond and note financings on behalf of state governments, municipal authorities and non-profit institutions. Notable transactions in which he was a key contributor include a $683 million variable rate demand bond refunding and two tax and revenue anticipation note financings totaling $1.3 billion for the School District of Philadelphia. He was also a key contributor to four variable rate and auction rate financings totaling $431 million for The City of New York and New York City Municipal Water Finance Authority.
In an earlier position as a Public Finance Analyst at Merrill Lynch, Mr. Featherstone provided day-to-day quantitative and execution support for over $1.8 billion of tax-exempt bond and note financings on behalf of various general obligation, revenue tax-backed and 501(c)3 issuers. His notable transactions included four financings totaling over $730 million in fixed rate and variable debt for investor-owned utilities; six new money and refinancing transactions totaling $581 million in fixed rate and auction rate securities for the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority; and two transactions totaling more than $60 million in fixed rate, new money and refunding issues for Eastern Baton Rouge. He developed Excel and DBC cash flow models, including new money debt capacity projects, senior and subordinate lien structures, cost of capital, and restructuring and refunding analyses for various municipal issuers.
In earlier positions, Mr. Featherstone worked as an Analyst at Impact News and JP Morgan Securities.
Mr. Featherstone received a BBA in finance and accounting from the University of Michigan Business School. He is a member of the National Association of Black Accountants.
