Howard Mackey has been in the municipal bond industry for 26 years, beginning his career as an institutional bond salesman. For the past 19 years, he has managed sales, trading and underwriting desks. Since joining Rice Financial in 2006, Mr. Mackey has served as a managing underwriter on more than 300 issues totaling $75 billion.
Mr. Mackey directs a team of seasoned institutional salespeople and underwriters averaging 25 years of experience. As an experienced institutional sales and underwriting executive, he offers clients broad structuring, pricing and analytical expertise. He has successfully produced some of the lowest cost financings (versus competitors) as the senior manager for such well known issuers as The City of New York, the New York State Dormitory Authority, the State of Connecticut and Washington, D.C.
Before joining Rice, Mr. Mackey served as Executive Vice President at M. R. Beal & Company, heading the Municipal Bond Sales, Trading and Underwriting Department for eight years. His earlier experience includes Pryor, McClendon, Counts & Co, where he served as Managing Director and Partner and helped to generate a substantial increase in revenues and profit. In a prior position at Glickenhaus & Company, he served as Vice President in the Institutional Municipal Bond Sales and Trading Department.
Mr. Mackey earned an MBA in finance from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in business finance from Howard University.
