Leonard Jones

Mr. Jones has 22 years of experience in commercial and investment banking in the United States, Africa and Latin America. His experience includes both domestic and international derivative products finance, public sector finance, project finance, privatization, and debt restructuring. Mr. Jones’ accomplishments include executing more than $350 million of interest rate swaps, structuring more than $15 billion in fixed income securities, supervising and negotiating the restructuring of more than $4 billion in debt and managing the privatization of 26 state-owned enterprises for a foreign government.

His municipal experience relates to all types of debt financings including both short-term and long term financings, new money issues, current and advance refundings, taxable municipals and interest rate swaps. He has extensive experience with various types of credits including general obligation debt and revenue financings for water and sewer systems, airports, electric utilities, housing and hospitals.

Mr. Jones was previously a Vice President at Morgan Stanley & Co., Inc., in New York and Smith Barney Inc., in New York and Chicago. While at Morgan Stanley, Mr. Jones was responsible for the structuring and sale of approximately $1.5 billion of senior managed fixed income securities and while at Smith Barney he served as the technical banker on nearly $4 billion of senior managed tax-exempt bond financings. In addition, Mr. Jones participated in $1.8 billion dollars of complex taxable refinancing transactions with several rural electric cooperatives.

Mr. Jones also has significant international investment banking experience. Mr. Jones was a senior consultant to the Development Bank of Southern Africa’s Municipal Infrastructure Investment Unit, which is creating a mechanism for financing municipal infrastructure projects in South Africa. He was also Chief Consultant to the Zambia Privatisation Agency, privatizing 26 state-owned companies for the Government of Zambia over a two-year period.  Mr. Jones also spent a year in Mexico City restructuring bank loans.

Mr. Jones is on the Board of several public and private organizations.  Mr. Jones has an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a BA in economics from Dartmouth College.
