Shannon Briggs joined Rice Financial in 2007 to direct the firm’s marketing and communications efforts.  Ms. Briggs devised and implemented a new marketing communications strategy that was integral to the rapid growth of the firm’s municipal bond underwriting practice from $7 billion in 2006 to $34 billion in 2009, including major engagements with the U. S. Department of Education, City of New York and California State Treasurer’s Office.

At Rice, Ms. Briggs is responsible for building and directing all initiatives of the Marketing Department for each area of business, including a municipal broker/dealer, taxable fixed income group and derivative practice.  She introduced a new brand across all departments and implemented tracking systems to gauge the effectiveness of the firm’s marketing efforts and to streamline communications processes.  Ms. Briggs supervises the work flow of the core support group at Rice - analysts, junior bankers and marketing personnel - overseeing schedule, design, content and production of all marketing collateral and daily outgoing materials, including credit presentations, proposals and original publications.  She also directs the firm’s participation in conferences, public hearings and other events; produces advertisements and press releases for national publication; ensures compliance with FINRA, MSRB and SEC regulations in all communications; and performing ongoing statistical analysis of market share vs. the industry and the firm’s minority peer group.

Before Rice, Ms. Briggs was Vice President of Marketing at George K. Baum & Company.  At Baum, she was a key contributor to the firm’s participation in dozens of high-profile projects, including the largest bonding program in Missouri state history for the Missouri Department of Transportation ($2.5 billion).

Ms. Briggs received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri.
